It's All about the Water, with Horticultural Extension Agnet Sally Scalera, Thursday, October 2nd at 10:00 AM in the Jane von Thron Room. Cost is $5.00. Please register by calling the extension office at 633-1702.
Clay Handbuilding Workshop with Suzanne Frank, Mondays, October 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 from 1:00 - 3:30 PM. Cost is $70.00. Clay materials and tools provided, plus firing. Each student will be given clay and tools and will learn to make art objects using clay as a medium. Please register at the sign up table.
Music on a Sunday Afternoon kicks off a new season with Sheryl Paige accompanied by Leon Olguin on keyboard, Sunday, October 5th at 2:00 PM. Enjoy some acoustic guitar based music that draws elements from folk, rock, country, classical and jazz and is filled with pop-like musical and lyrical hooks that make for very memorable songs.
iRest –Guided Deep Relaxation and Visualization Class with Emily Hain, Mondays, 6:30-7:30. Introductory evening on October 6th, classes will be on October 20, 27, November 3, 10, 17 & 24. iRest has been used by the U.S. military as an adjunctive therapy for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Emily has received advanced teacher training in this technique. Cost is $15.00 for the series of $3.00 drop-in.
Watercolor Classes with award winning watercolor artist Helen Wheatley, Tuesdays, 9:00 AM – noon, October 7th – December 2nd (No class on Veteran’s Day, November 11th). Suitable for Beginning and Intermediate students. Cost is $80.00 for the 8 week session. Register at the Sign Up table and pick up a materials list. Enrolment is limited. Helen’s Faces at the Oasis won best of show at the Central Brevard Art Association annual show in March 2007.
Part 2 of Let’s Get in Order with Robert’s Rules with Parliamentarian Pete Cabaniss on October 7th at 7:00 PM. Pete Cabaniss will conduct part 2 of a seminar which will include a brief overview of parliamentary procedure from one who is schooled in the rules, procedures and governing documents of democratic assemblies. This program will be of interest to condominium owners and service groups in general.
People in Print presents Ray Osborne, local historian and journalist, who will discuss his new book Cape Canaveral which is part of the Images of America series, show historic photographs and discuss the Native Americans who inhabited the area. Copies of his book will be available for $19.99.
13th Annual Sea-Bean Symposium and Beachcombers’ Festival, Friday, October 17th (9:00 AM-5:00 PM) and Saturday, October 18th (9:00 AM-9:00 PM). Noted scientists, authors and enthusiasts of sea-beans and other drifting materials will be present for this 2-day event. Displays, slides, beach walks, contests and discussions will make this an interesting weekend. Keynote speaker will be Richard LaMonte, vice president of the North American Sea Glass Association, and author of the award-winning book Pure Sea Glass.

Scrapbooking with Dana Wilkens, Wednesday, October 22nd at 1:00 PM in the Jane von Thron Room. Create a mini scrapbook. All materials included in this "spooktacular" book. Please bring your own glue. Cost is $5.00. Register at the Sign Up table.
Common Eye Health Concerns for People over Age 50 : Eye Health Screening and Presentation, with Jerry Orluff from The Eye Institute, Wednesday, October 22nd at 2:00 PM. Topics will include cataracts, new technology lens implants, glaucoma, macular degeneration, eyelid rejuvenation and restoration, plus a question and answer session on all topics related to eyecare.. Part of the library’s Focus on Health Series.
People in Print presents professional medium and lecturer John Rogers, who will sign and sell copies of his new book Soul Traveler, speaks about mediumship and give brief individual readings, Tuesday, October 21st at 6:30 PM.
West Indies Wonderland and Carnival with Nancy Abbott, Tuesday, October 28th at 7:00 PM. Nancy, a very active member of Friends of Cocoa Beach Library, will share her recent journey to the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago in a PowerPoint presentation.
People in Print presents Mario Mozzilla, winner of the First Annual BookWise National Author's Contest, who will sign and sell copies of his book Respect the Dead, on Wednesday, October 29th at 6:30 PM. Mozzilla has created a minefield of mayhem, deception and corruption in a gripping story of suspense and murder.
